The Panel reviews the current and emerging indications for use of robotics in general surgery, and the training and credentialing required for its use. There have presentations on the new robotic platforms being developed for NOTES® and single port surgery.
Objectives:
After attending this session, the attendee will be able to:
- Provide an update regarding the use of robotics in general surgery
- Review the SAGES/MIRA position paper on clinical use of robotic surgery
- Discuss the new robotic platforms under development for NOTES® and single port surgery
- Describe future directions in robotic development
