During the one hour drive to the Big Cypress Reservation in Clewiston, you will learn more about Florida and the everglades. Upon arrival, explore some of the 2,200 lush acres of the Reservation including the Seminole Cultural Center and Museum. The exhibits depict the lives of the Seminoles in south Florida during the late 1800s depicting hunting, cooking, travel, marriage, folklore and spiritual beliefs. The tour of the museum as well the nature walk will be fully narrated by a native Seminole Indian, and a resident of the reservation.
Then, we will board the bus for a short transfer to the Safari! Upon arrival we will enjoy a lunch buffet with such delicacies as gator nuggets, frog legs, catfish and fry bread with honey or for the less daring there are selections from American-style fare, like chicken, ribs and salad.
After lunch we have time to explore the reservation and wetlands. Lastly, we will experience the everglades aboard swamp buggies, customized motorized vehicles specially designed to provide an elevated view of the frontier while comfortably riding through the wetlands and cypress heads. Wildlife sightings may include deer, water buffalo, bison, wild hogs, hawks, eagles other rare birds and alligators.
