Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the participant will 1) Recognize indications for management of gastrointestinal hemorrhage, esophageal stricture, enteral access, colonic obstruction, localization and management of colonic lesions; 2) Identify new approaches for management of these issues using flexible endoscopic technology; 3) Integrate these techniques into clinical practice; 4) Panel discussion with experts to discuss specialty tips and tricks of the trade.

Course description:Flexible endoscopy has increasing applications for not only diagnosis, but also therapy. Gastrointestinal surgeons require both didactic instruction and hands on experience to determine which new developments are appropriate in their practice, and to provide exposure to master new technology and techniques. This is a hands on course which will discuss recent developments in therapeutic flexible endoscopy, using the most recent advances in technology and equipment. A sampling of these techniques and approaches will be
provided under the guidance of endoscopic experts.Lab description:
Participants will perform dilation, stenting, tattooing, gastrostomy/ jejunostomy, laser ablation, heater probe application, variceal band ligation, and endoscopic ultrasound on canine animate models.
Logistics:
Shuttles to New York Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia Campus will be provided from the New York Hilton & Towers starting at 7:00 AM.
