First Time Forum for Industry

On Friday, April 20, from 11:00 to 11:30 our industry colleagues will have an opportunity to present educational information in the main session room. A limited number of companies will make brief presentations highlighting pertinent updates about their products or company. This type of forum is a first for SAGES and will provide attendees a focused communication about evolving developments in the corporate sector. Sentinel Node Techniques/Oncology

The sentinel lymph node technique has been proposed to be an accurate method of identifying those lymph nodes most likely to contain metastatic cancer cells. This has been well demonstrated first in melanoma and now in breast cancer patients. Use of the sentinel lymph node technique is now being explored with gastrointestinal cancers. Research is being performed which broadens the application of the sentinel lymph node concept to the field of PET scanning. Specific nuclear medicine compounds will be injected preoperatively to mark abnormalities in the body.
