Saturday, April 21, 2001, 7:30 AM - 1:00 PM
Operating Rooms today face the challenge of keeping their OR's and OR personnel proficient in the evolving high tech environment of Minimally Invasive Surgery. It is imperative that OR personnel have the right tools to expand their knowledge and skills to support these technically demanding procedures. An OR team trained in MIS is essential to the success of these procedures in this high tech environment.
Objectives:
On completion of this seminar, the participant will:
Understand the historical impact of MIS on the OR team
Identify key components of video imaging
Describe safety consideration of electrosurgery
Recognize the crucial steps in preparing for laparoscopic common duct exploration
Describe basic ultrasound imaging techniques
Become familiar with ways to implement research in the OR environment
Identify elements needed to integrate and create an intelligent OR suite
Describe the surgical course of patients undergoing Advanced MIS procedures
